Thank you for being a part of the evolution of Manhattan Theatre Works. This is an exciting season filled with new programming and vision that with your help will keep MTWorks creating varied and focused work as diverse as the city we call home. After a successful Kickstarter campaign, and winter appeal we've raised around $10,000.00, our goal is to raise $30,000 by March 14, 2014.
We have been arduously working on DARK WATER directed by Flux Theatre Ensemble’s Heather Cohn. So many wonderful developments we can already share with you on this magical show that delves into the gulf and the Louisiana oil spill, giving a voice to the true defenseless victims (the animals) through poetry, allegory, music, puppetry and movement.
We have been developing DARK WATER since 2011 and we are confident it is ready to leave its mark. The cast features 5 MTWorks Company Members lead by MTWorker Diánna Martin (MTWorks’ The Oath, The Family Shakespeare) with MTWorkers Susan G. Bob, Antonio Minino (MTWorks’ Arpeggio, Parts of Parts & Stitches), Kathleen O’Neill and Chester Poon (MTWorks’ Re-Works: The Spanish Civil War). We have a great design team which reunites MTWorks’ Anaïs Nin Goes to Hell & Barrier Island costume designer David “DW” Withrow (Broadway: Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Cinderella, Everyday Rapture, Race, Threepenny Opera) and MTWorker lighting designer Daniel Gallagher (Lincoln Center Festival, New York City Opera, New York City Ballet, PBS’ Live From Lincoln Center and Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater).
With the continued support of the 14th Street Y, DARK WATER has been invited to be part of their Theater Series. This means extensive support and expanding our outreach and artistic footprint.
Inspiring and showcasing over 50 artists this season we have all the elements in place to continue building our legacy but we cannot do it without you help.
We hope to see you soon!
